Journal of Curriculum and Instruction (Special Edition in Honour of Prof. Esther Oreoluwa Omosewo)
Vol. 14 No. 1-s (2023)It is a great privilege for me to express my views via this special edition of the Journal of Curriculum and Instruction (JCI) in my honour, celebrating 32 years of service at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. I have served in various capacities in the University, including, being the Managing Editor for this Journal for many years.
I am eternally grateful to God for the rare privilege of being a professional teacher having taught at all levels of our educational system. God has been so kind to me in all ramifications. I am gifted to have served in the Department, worked with great minds and dedicated scholars since my appointment on 16 December 1991.
This special edition of the JCI contains 19 well researched scientific papers on current trends in the field of Science Education. I personally found the articles interesting and reinforcing. The articles provide a golden opportunity in presenting on-going research works and, template for other researchers to harness. The information supplied by researchers, no doubt, will be useful in advancing the envisaged development for educators, within and outside the shore of Nigeria.
I urge colleagues to continue the good works. We all have the mandate to protect academic culture and the leading role in standard and integrity in all we do for which our Department is known. Embracing new technologies in our teaching and, engaging in purposeful collaboration in research works is the way to go now and, will be defining factors in the years ahead. No one should be left behind!
I wish to appreciate Dr. Khadijat S Ameen, the Head of Department and Dr. M. A. Akanmu, the Managing Editor, respectively, at this auspicious time, for facilitating the production of this special edition of the JCI to mark my exit from the Department and the University.

Journal of Curriculum and Instruction (Special Edition in Honour of Prof. Adekunle Solomon Olorundare)
Vol. 12 No. 1 (2019)The idea of having a special edition of the Journal of Curriculum and Instruction, JCI in honour of Professor Adekunle Solomon OLORUNDARE is again a great pleasure for the entire members of the Editorial Board and by extension, Department of Science Education. The last two editions were equally dedicated to the duo of Professors Michael Olubusuyi FAJEMIDAGBA and Isaac Olakanmi ABIMBOLA. The trio together can be regarded as founding fathers of then Department of Curriculum Studies and Educational Technology (CSET). They have in their own ways provided enabling environment to make learning, mentoring and grooming of young scholars in the Department today an easy task. The last 40 years of their services to the University will remain ever green with memories difficult to ignore.
Prof. Olorundare, asides being a successful Chemistry Educator, led a unique area in the field of education: Curriculum Development. His contributions and achievement in training curriculum experts/developers across the length and breadth of this nation cannot be underestimated. His picture in the heart of many is that of a father who had mentored and ever willing to assist as many as he could. His simplicity, sense of purpose, integrity and large disposition to accommodate all shades of opinions are few of what we will all missed about this humility personified scholar. The enigma called Olorundare can be very unassuming in relationship with peers and younger ones.
This edition, volume 12 number 1 (2019) is therefore dedicated to Prof. Olorundare in recognition of his worthy contributions to the fields of Education and Chemistry. Articles published in this edition specifically elucidates on teachers’ awareness of sustainable development goals, effective management and delivery of entrepreneurship curriculum in Nigeria. An attempt was also made to expand justifications for understanding the relationship between learners’ cognitive styles and performance in Chemistry while the study on mathematics revealed the efficacy of laboratory instructional strategy on enhancing pupils’ attitude and retention ability in the classroom. Submissions on institutional policy implementation and adoption of Learning Management System (LMS) in Nigerian universities as well as Preferences for Test Type by Teachers of Chemistry in Ilorin, Nigeria were advanced. This edition is therefore a must read for stakeholders in various domains of education. The excellent job done by editorial board in making the articles readable for the knowledge and pleasure of readers is equally commendable. I urge you all to enjoy your reading.

Journal of Curriculum and Instruction (Special Edition in Honour of Prof. Olubusuyi Fajemidagba)
Vol. 10 No. 2 (2017)A business philosopher and author, Jim Rohn said that the legacy we leave behind is part of the ongoing foundations of life. Everybody is a steward of this world and has a calling to leave the world better than how he/she found it. Professor Olubusuyi Fajemidagba came, he saw and he conquered. What will never fade away about Prof. Michael Fajemidagba are the lessons of life he has bequeathed onto lives he has touched. He has helped many people to navigate the road so that life can be forged ahead. He has passed lessons of humility and modesty to many of us. For these and many other reasons, it was thought worthwhile to dedicate a special edition, specifically, volume 10, number 2 of the Journal of Curriculum and Instruction to him. In this edition, articles are written by scholars from various Universities in Nigeria. They include a review of Fajemidagba’s contributions to development of mathematics education in Nigeria; An analysis of text message related errors in the written English of senior secondary school students in Kwara State; Gender, socio-economic status and self-concept as determinants of senior secondary school students academic performance in mathematics; lecturers’ perceptions of the challenges of development of courseware for open and distance learning in Nigeria; quality of university education: An agent of national integration and development in Nigeria; a comparative analysis of the philosophy and curricula of physics teacher education of selected southwestern Nigerian universities; an assessment of the socio-economic relevance of the senior school chemistry curriculum in Lagos State; undergraduate students’ perception towards the effectiveness of the use of e-learning in the university of Ilorin and many more. Happy reading.
